About Me

I am an amateur landscape photographer based in Liverpool, UK. I have enjoyed taking photographs since I first took a holiday snap with my parents' camera as a child and bought my first film SLR 7 years ago as a university fresher. I have been seriously interested in my photography for around 2 years and have recently been spurred on to share my photographs with a wider audience.

I adore the British Isles and most of my images are made here. I primarily enjoy photographing the mountainous and coastal landscapes that fill our island and consider myself particularly lucky to live in an area of the UK with such wonderful landscapes on my doorstep. I try to combine my photography with my love of the outdoors in general and when my camera is not in my hand I will usually be found enjoying other outdoor pursuits such as sailing, kayaking, climbing and hiking. I hope that my love of the natural world is reflected in my images.

Someone once told me "the landscape validates my photography, not the other way around" and I subscribe to this point of view. Many of the locations that appear in this gallery I would have been as happy to have enjoyed simply with my eyes as with my camera.

Technical Information

I use a Canon 30D Digital SLR with either a 17-85mm or 70-300mm lens. I use Cokin polarising and graduated neutral density filters and a Manfrotto tripod.

All images have been prepared using Adobe Lightroom 2, but I believe in getting the image right in camera rather than spending time in front of the computer therefore the post-image processing is minimal.
